The brief
Striding Edge Films produces intelligent, engaging, character driven films with an emphasis on social and community content. Having become a well respected independent film company they needed a new brand and website that reflected their position and communicated their underpinning ethos of letting people tell their own stories via the film medium.
Winner of BEST FACTUAL SERIES AWARD at the Royal Television Society 2007 (North East) Awards for “I AM WHAT I SPEND, produced for Channel 4’s 3 Minute Wonders, this intriguing tale about the pressures of 'making ends meet' is typical of the gritty and realistic documentary film making that typifies the Striding Edge style.
It was naturally important that the design of the site centred around these characters that have featured in Striding Edge’s productions and our solution was to take candid screenshots of the characters from the films and ‘pull’ them (the characters) into sharp, highlighted focus within the header allowing them take a leading role within the website as well.
The logo motif is a direct and literal reference to the namesake mountain with the type being illuminated by a glow reminiscent of a cinema projector providing a suitably cinematic atmosphere.
Visitors can catch samples of the films on the site as well as find out more about the organisation and the people that make it work so well.
